MotoGP. Round 5- Le Mans

After qualifying, which saw Colin Edwards highside, the front row saw Colin take pole, Casey Stoner on second, Carlos Checa on third with former world champion Valentino Rossi in 4th. Current World champ, Nicky Hayden, camped back on the 3rd row after a terrible start to the season where he hasnt even got near the podium.

Just before the riders went out for their warm-up lap it started to rain heavily prompting the race officails to call a 'wet race' where the riders can change bikes anytime after time first lap.
After the race had begun the rain came down like a frickin' monsoon, the riders being forced to take the corners gingerly, although still reaching speeds of over 250 km/h.
The racecourse got a bit hairy as the race progressed, seeing more than 11 crashes and 10 riders crashing out, there where many highsides which saw the riders getting flipped into the air, the best one would have to be Hayden's crash which saw him lowside out of a corner and sliding into the gravel which caused his bike to flip into the air and doing 2 or 3 somersaults sending bits of Honda flying around the gaf.

There was a ridiculous amount of surface water during the last half of the race, causing race leader Randy de Puniet on the Kawasaki to crash out and allow Chris Vermeulen to take 1st with Melandri following close behind on his Honda. Rossi slipped from 3rd to 6th seeing him being passed by Pedrosa and Hoffman.

Vermeulen took first, Melandri tokk second and Stoner took 3rd.
in the overall standings Stoner is leading the championship followed by Rossi and Pedrosa. thanks for stopping by San Diego
